Some nurse watches are with 30 base pulsations. Like this ALK fob pocket nurse watch for example. It is a easy way to count the heartbeats in 1 minutes. However, some nurse students either don't know how to use this function or thinks it is not reliable. Here i will show you how to use this functions and proof you that it is reliable.
Start count when the
second hands across 12 o’clock, count 30 heartbeats and read pulse rate on the
outer cycle of the watch (red Numbers). It is just the Numbers the second hands
point to when you finished your last counting.
For example, you start
count when the second hands past 12 o’clock and when you count to 30, the
second hands point to 7 o’clock, the pulse rate each minute is 52.
Now let us check if this number is correct. From last example, we know that we counted 30 heartbeats and it was finished when the second hands point to 7 o'clock. So it means that the heartbeats is 30 in 35 seconds. So we can use below formula to calculate how many heartbeats in 1 minute (60 seconds).
30/35*60=51.43 ≈52
So the Number you read from the outer circle is just right.
This watch is with the best quality.
